We are all in agreement that southern Thailand is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Happiness is gorgeous beaches, all day sunshine, crystal clear water, five dollar thai massages, museli/yogurt/fresh fruit, good coffee, brand new modern hotels, and two of your best friends ;-)
After weeks of questioning our semi-ridiculous and aggresive itinerary we find that we really did it right. The motorbikes, treks, overnight busses, cockroaches and rats are long behind us and we freaking love southeast Asia ;-) Not that we haven't enjoyed seeing this part of the world over the past month... but when you get to a place like this, it's all groovy...
We've pretty much spent our days in Samui beachside, relaxing in the warm and beautiful Gulf of Thailand and basking in the sun. Despite what our new Italian friends think, our suntans are at their peak.. but don't worry everyone, we've been big contributors to the southeast Asia sunscreen sales! We took a day trip to Angthong National Marine Park - one of the sites where "The Beach" was filmed - and it was one of the prettiest beaches we've ever been to. Although we thought we were done trekking after Kinabalu - we marched our sore legs on a two hour hike to catch the view of the 42 islands that make up the national park. And then we went kayaking, swimming and on one other short hike to see the most emerald green lagoon in the world. We are sad to leave Samui - it's just amazing here - but super excited to meet up with Deb in Phuket tomorrow morning - it's time for some birthday celebrations!
